the gothic play
EDGAR:
Oh my sweet love
My belladonna...
Why must you live to your name "sorrows"?
Why have I chosen thee my darling
You are my Tallulah
Yet, why do my tears leave my eyes
The salty drops from my eyes blur my sight
I will follow thee in my heart
Oh my sweet Dolores.... Oh my sweet darling (crying)
Dolores (Dolores's ghost)
My darling sweetness
Why must I live to my name? You asked
My darling death takes all and will take all
And you have lived your name
My "protector of the good" Oh I love you so
I am in pain yet at peace
Yet I hunger for your soul
Oh I cannot do this (sobbing)
No tears from my eyes my darling
Not because I don't want to
But because I don't dwell in flesh and bones
Hush! My Edgar....Hush!
The dagger in thy hand is the key
Your powerful arms will help you
Come to me my darling
Yes... don't be scared, you can do it
soon there will be no more pain
Oh my angel and protector
Come into my arms

"Death is the mother of Beauty" says one of my favourite poet Wallace Stevens... its true indeed, this line "the dagger in thy hand is the key" conveys the same message...
